Learning to love men's fashion

One of the many things I love about living and working in London is the fact that it's such a fashion hub, yet I've often found this to be both a burden and a blessing. Wading through crowds of trendily-clad commuters can be both inspiring, and exhausting, but that's a topic for another post. What I wanted to reflect on today is my growing appreciation for men's fashion. In my early 20s I counted myself truly lucky to be a girl and able to enjoy the endless options fashion had to offer. An abundance of fabrics, patterns, shapes and styles were at my fingertips, while the poor old boys had little to entertain them other than jeans and ratty old t-shirts. The guys I knew hated shopping, and would much rather spend their time playing computer games or riding their skateboards than browsing through rails of knitted cardigans in Topman.

But my ignorance has been thoroughly dampened in recent years as I came across guys who undoubtedly rock their wardrobes. Far from relying on their girlfriends to dress them, this new breed of metrosexual is a force to be reckoned with, and I find myself people-watching the guys' fashion as much as I do the girls.

I love putting together wishlist outfits, and really enjoyed whipping up this outfit using the range at Dunhill. I particularly love their range of knitwear.

I'd love to hear your thoughts on men's fashion. My boyfriend, Frank, is not particularly 'trendy', but he always dresses well. Unlike some previous boyfriends, I don't have that cringe moment when they turn up sporting a threadbare band t-shirt, or worse yet, sporting a slogan emblazoned on their chest (which is usually sexism masquerading as humour). Thankfully it looks like boys are a bit more enlightened these days!

  1. My husband is colorblind so there are definitely times when he makes some interesting choices! But overall he looks decent (much more so after we married though!)
