Despite thinking I was fairly prepared for winter by stocking up on a couple of new winter woollies, I've still found myself shivering away in the flat, reluctant to put the heating on until absolutely necessary, so I was rather pleased when Oasap sent me this nautical stripe jumper to keep the chills at bay.
After a rather epic dip in my 10k training, I've been slowly trying to dust myself off and get going again. I've joined the Great Ormond Street Hospital staff running club on Tuesday evenings, but thought a charity one might also be nice, as there are so many lovely ladies in the office I'd like to get to know better. So, on Monday we went for our first 5k, giving me the perfect opportunity to christen my new Garmin Forerunner 10. Very slow stats as you can see, but a great little gizmo that I can't wait to tell you about in a future post!
I also had a rather exciting package arrive for me this week: make-up! Typically, my concealer and foundation (and liquid liner, but I'm pacing myself on the expense!) ran out at the same time, which was threatening to burn a rather large hole in my bank account. Thankfully I had a gift card from Debenhams, and after some extensive online research (plus a little help from the lovely Betzy) I decided on Mac Studio Fix Foundation and Bobbi Brown Creamy Concealer. I braved the tube and trudged over to Oxford Street on my lunch hour to stock up, only to discover that there was neither a Bobbi Brown nor a Mac counter in the Oxford Street Debenhams. Whaaaa?! It's moments like this that I realise how 'London' I've become - naively assuming that any shop on Oxford Street stocks EVERYTHING.
As I stood under the bright lights of the Debenhams beauty shop floor (a place that sends a shiver down my spine), I felt the penetrating eyes of numerous exquisitely preened, chipper young sales assistants boring into my soul. "Touche Eclat madame?" "Have you tried the latest Dior perfume?" "Would you like to try eyebrow threading?" AHH!! I half considered giving up on my original research and diving into one of the other concessions: Lancome, Benefit, Urban Decay, YSL or Chanel to name but a few. But then I decided "no, I've done my research. I know what I want", and came back to the office.
With a few minutes of my lunch hour to spare, I logged onto the Debenhams website with the idea that I'd just order them online. I didn't anticipate the plethora of subtle shade differences that would have me pondering endlessly. I'll save the decision-making process for a future beauty review, but eventually I placed the order and was very pleased to receive an additional gift bag of goodies - an apt payment for my wasted journey I feel!
I hope you're all having a lovely week, whatever it is you're up to!
